Atanor
Atanor is a borosilicate glass vessel inspired by the rituals of bread-making. It resulted from one year of research around the theme of bread, in collaboration with a professional breadmaker.

The name as well as the shape of the vase convey alchemical imagery. In-between a laboratory tool and a ritualistic apparatus, Atanor celebrates the gestures and the emotional, nearly sacred, connection of the breadmaker with the yeast - mother of life, Materia Prima of alchemical transmutation that turns the four elements into bread.
The elegant forms of the vessel serve specific technical purposes to support the phase of the refreshment of sourdough yeast. The curves of the inner vase are designed using a 3D modeling software and carefully calibrating its volumes, so to offer visual clues for observing the fermentation and doubling of the volume of the newly-refreshed yeast. The outer vase can be filled with warm water, to create an ideal environment for the fermentation.
Atanor is designed by Sara Bologna for Eleit (www.eleit.it) in collaboration with Le Polveri microbakery. It is completely hand-made in Milan by Remark Glass Soffieria Artistica.
