GRUTTA
SARA BOLOGNA
MILAN, ITALY
Sara Bologna is a designer based in Milan (b.1996). She conceives projects on different scales, from object to installation, venturing into the liminal zones of the design practice, testing and questioning its boundaries.
Her research focuses on the anthropological and intangible aspects of material culture, and develops in parallel on a theoretical and practical level. Her imagery is permeated with rituals, symbols, graffiti from the creases of pre-history, fragments of poems and grimoires. All these inspirations are deconstructed and reconstructed based on iconographic, semantic and historical insight. With her work, she addresses the urge to recover a profoundly human dimension of life, through the rediscovery of its ritual dimensions and the valorization of artisanal production. She curates design-related projects with attention to the cross-contamination of the discipline with craftsmanship and contemporary arts.
